Landuse & Parking

  1. On your way you will see several plots that have not been built on. They dont have a wall or hedge around them (other people will map those).

We would like you to tell us how people are using these open spaces. Try to outline their size. And then asses what sort of landuse the plot has:

    brownfield
Describes land scheduled for new development where old buildings have been demolished and cleared
    commercial
    Predominantly offices, business parks, etc.
    retail
Predominantly shops. This is different from the previous one!
    construction
"Under construction" site, should become something different once the construction is finished
    farm
An area of farmland used for tillage and pasture (animals, crops, vegetables, flowers, fruit growing).
    forest
    Managed forest or woodland plantation
    grass
For areas coverd with lawn. No meadows or grassland for cattle.
    landfill
Place where waste is dumped. There is a special request from www.unglobalpulse.org if we can mark the landfills in greater Kampala. If you know where they are, and can recognize them from the satellite imagery, please mark them.
    Recreation Ground
Place where waste is dumped. There is a special request from www.unglobalpulse.org if we can mark the landfills in greater Kampala. If you know where they are, and can recognize them from the satellite imagery, please mark them.
  2. As a special treat, you might pass some parking spots. Here is what we would like to know of these:
    Capacity
The amount of parking lots available.
    access
Is this a public parking space, or does the owner grant access?
    supervised
Is there a guard, and if so, is he there 24/7
    operator
    Who runs the carpar?

You can find out all about parkings here http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Parking

  3. In Europe Specials are called Taxi's (they dont know the word for Matatu)
We know there are 1 or 2 places where you can find a Special. These are called Taxi Stands. This is what we need to know of those:
    capacity
    Amount of taxi's waiting here
    presence
When are the taxi's here. Just ask them from what time to what time they work.
    phone
Only if you are sure a driver *always* works from here, and he is OK with it.
